COMEDK 2024: Understanding the Round One Results and Next Steps
Hello, What's Up Everybody!
My name is Karan and welcome back to my channel. I hope all of you are doing well and taking good care of yourselves. Here’s the latest update regarding the results of Round One of the COMEDK exam, which was released yesterday evening.
In my previous video, I mentioned that the cutoff for RV College of Engineering would definitely go down compared to the mock results they had provided. The mock cutoff was 204, but the actual cutoff closed at 193. Similarly, if you look at BMS College of Engineering, the cutoff was 1365 in the mock, but it closed at 1359 in the actual result. This pattern suggests that except for RV, the cutoffs for most other colleges either remained roughly the same or decreased slightly.
This indicates that students have been very careful with their choice filling. Now, in the upcoming rounds, you will have the option to modify your choices. If you missed out on any choices or want to add more, you can do so.
With the results out, the next steps involve decision-making rounds from July 12 to July 18. During this period, you will have the options for confirmation and payment. If you didn’t get your preferred college, you should select the "Accept and Upgrade" option. This way, you secure a backup while still having the possibility of upgrading in future rounds. Only choose the "Accept and Freeze" option if you are fully satisfied with the college you’ve been allotted.
It's crucial to recheck your choice filling to ensure there are no errors. I had mentioned in my previous videos to double-check the college codes to avoid any mistakes later on.
Regarding COMEDK results, it seems that RV, MSRIT, and BMS have been given higher preferences in Computer Science this year. Gradually, BMS might move up while MSRIT might go down in preference. Then we have JSS, Dayananda Sagar, and GITAM. Speaking of GITAM, it appears that every year, at least one seat in Computer Science gets filled, making it seem more popular. However, in reality, it ranks quite low in other branches. For instance, it stands at 21st for ECE and much lower in Biotechnology and ISC.
Therefore, I would suggest being cautious about choosing GITAM purely based on its high cutoff in Computer Science. Research well before making any decisions.
That's all from my side. My name is Karan, stay tuned, stay safe, stay blessed. Goodbye, Jai Hind, Jai Bharat, and as always, God bless you all.
